Rotary
is an organisation of businessmen and professionals associated throughout
the world for the purpose of providing humanitarian aid, supporting
high ethical standards in all professions, and improving benevolence
and peace in the world.
The initiator of Rotary idea Paul Harris, a humanist from Chicago,
organised and established the first Rotary club on 23rd February
1905. Paul Harris became the first chairmen of the world organisation
Rotary International in 1910.
One of the most quoted messages in the field of business ethics
is a "Rotary four question test". All Rotary club members
know this message and have to follow it:
For all the things we think about, talk or do, we have to ask ourselves:
-
Is it true?
-
Is it fair to everybody?
-
Will it lead to benevolence and better friendships?
-
Will it be useful for everybody?
There are more than 29.000 Rotary clubs in 140 countries world-wide.
Different languages, cultures and religions are not obstacles for
spreading the human ideas of rotary belonging.
